Business owners and community members gathered together on May 21st to raise funds for the upcoming Independence Day at Maunalua Bay fireworks celebration. The Red, White and Blues event, presented by the Hawai'i Kai Chamber of Commerce, was a fabulous and fun evening of music, entertainment, networking and food.

DJ Teley and Tavana provided live entertainment. The Hawaii Fire Tribe WOWed the crowd with live firedancing and a delicious menu was prepared by Chef Mark Hiebel.

The Hawai'i Kai Chamber of Commerce is committed to supporting the Independence Day fireworks display that brings together the East Oahu community to celebrate freedom, family and friends.

May, 2010: Pro Service Hawaii Seeks Sales Folk

Aloha!
I am reaching out to you with the hopes of finding some great names for sales folk on all islands. We continue to grow and are struggling to find tenacious sales folk through our traditional recruitment channels. Do you have a brother, a sister, a spouse, a nephew, a niece, etc., a favorite waiter or waitress, a great clerk at your local Starbucks, someone that you feel would like to get out there and sell for us - we’d be flattered to talk with them.
First and foremost we care more about character than sales experience so if this someone you have in mind is a self-starter, energetic and articulate, but maybe hasn’t sold formally, we would love to talk with them just the same.
Appreciate your thoughts and please feel free to forward this to others who you feel might have leads on a candidate.
We have openings for all levels from entry level Associate to Senior Sales Manager.

The Art of Partnering, Branding and Marketing

The Hawaii Kai Chamber of Commerce educational  seminar "The Art of Partnering, Branding and Marketing with J.T. Foxx" on March 12 was a great success!  As an added bonus to the networking event, participants had the opportunity to give a 29-second 'pitch' to the crowd. It was a perfect time for people to introduce themselves and network their services and businesses.
The pitches have been uploaded to the Hawai'i Kai Chamber of Commerce YouTube Channel (http://www.youtube.com/hikaicoc ) and will serve to help our members further strengthen their online presence. This is truly in line with the motto of the Hawaii Kai Chamber of Commerce: "Together We Achieve So Much More!"

Many mahalos to the generous sponsors for this event: Central Pacific Bank, Roy's Restaurant Hawaii Kai, Winners' Camp, and Pacific Edge Magazine!

Just 3 years old, the Hawaii Kai Chamber of Commerce is already more than 70 members strong and provides networking opportunities throughout the year, such as membership luncheons, educational opportunities, fundraising events and the end-of-year members gala.

On Friday December 11th, 2009 the Hawai’I Kai Chamber of Commerce (HIKAICOC) held their 3rd annual Gala. It was a beautiful setting as people spread their holiday spirit while they mingled amidst sparkling holiday lights, Champagne, pupus, music by Kaleo and an auction by Howard at the Hawai'i Kai Retirement & Assisted Living Community on Kawaihae Street. This holiday season, the HIKAICOC wants to wish everyone “Mele Kalikimaka & Hou’oli Makahiki Hou!”

Delorese Gregoire, one of the founding members of the HIKAICOC and the founding director of Winners' Camp for Teenagers at Hawai'i Leadership Academy, enthusiastically greeted guests as they arrived. She noted that, “I am happy to see the HIKAICOC flourish, after a rough start the organization keeps getting better and better.” Partially due to her dedication and hard work. Delorese wanted to remind people that being a member will strengthen your business. She is especially proud of the role that the HIKAICOC gives in supporting the Independence Day at Maunalua Bay Fireworks event, a fantastic showcase of the festivities!

A new member, Janayhe Self (Senior Account Executive of The Pacific Edge magazine) exclaimed, “I was floored by the HIKAICOC’s amount of energy, networking and willingness to help the community.” She especially loves the HIKAICOC’s devotion to others, “It is so inspirational to just give a moment of your time and realize the amount of respect that earns you.” When asked why someone should join, she said, “I realize how many people in this community need direction, medium and a voice and the HIKAICOC is able to give that!”

Lolly Elliott, a member of the board of the HIKAICOC and the Manager of the Hawai'i Kai Retirement Assisted Living Community said, “I joined because of the July 4th fireworks, my residents love watching them!” She emphasized that it is important as local business owners to be a part of the community. Proof of that is the continued growth of the HIKAICOC into over 70 members. Lolly was in the spirit of the event as she reiterated the theme of the Gala: “Together We Achieve So Much More!” She is looking forward to an exciting year ahead.

Some of the activities that the HIKAICOC are involved in are: four networking luncheons at Outback Steakhouse, two educational seminars, a fundraising event for Kaiser High School, Independence Day at Maunalua Bay Fireworks and the End-Of-Year Gala event. Be inspired and join the HIKAICOC! For more information on upcoming events or how to become a member, click on the JOIN NOW link at the top of this page.

The first event of 2009 held by the Hawai'i Kai Chamber of Commerce was the Sales Skills Seminar and Chamber Mixer on January 30th featuring world-renowned presentation coach Pam Chambers.  Ninety-two members of the community enjoyed the sold-out event at Roy's Restaurant in Hawai'i Kai who provided the venue and delicious selection of pupus, along with wine provided by Better Brands.

Please watch for details on the next event, a fundraiser at Outback Steakhouse, Hawai'i Kai with all proceeds to be given to the Independence Day at Maunalua Bay Foundation to help with costs for the Hawai'i Kai Fireworks Display on July 4th, 2009.
