Elected Leaders of the Chamber Board

Board President

Gindi French grew up in Southern California finally settling in the Pasadena area. She began her career working at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory while in high school. To facilitate a career in spacecraft & instrumentation engineering, she attended the State of California Polytechnic University, Pomona as a mechanical engineering major. Ten years of engineering work allowed Gindi to work on several spacecrafts and deep sea instruments fulfilling a dream of exploring extreme environments. Strong participation in student and mentoring programs allowed Gindi to find great fulfillment and the new passion of teaching, which she later pursued as a private tutor. Life’s changes brought Gindi to Hawaii where she consulted for the University of Hawaii’s School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology and the Hawaii Space Flight Laboratory. She also became involved in the trades first as the office manager of K M Electrical Services and later as manager and backflow tester at B.J. Genz Plumbing LLC. Despite the great opportunity afforded in the trades, Gindi missed working with students, and so she taught courses in Technical Communication at UH Manoa and then opened Rocket Science Tutoring. She is a member of the East Oahu Chamber of Commerce, the Honolulu Business Network-East Oahu, the East Honolulu Breakfast Club and other trade and charitable organizations. Gindi lives in Hawai’i Kai with her three children.
