Carnival equipment set up on ‘Great Lawn’ Tuesday

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – It’s almost carnival time in Hawaii Kai. According to the E.K. Fernandez’s website, the Hawaii Kai carnival will return for two weekends in March.

The carnival will be held from March 13-15 and March 20-22 on the ‘great lawn’ between Hawaii Kai Drive and Keahole Street.

The carnival was plagued with problems last year, high winds drastically shortened hours of operations and some in the Hawaii Kai community were upset by what they described as being left out of the planning process.

This year Donna Smith, vice president of E.K. Fernandez Shows, went before the Hawaii Kai neighborhood board to discuss the 2015 changes.

Smith told the board that there will be two entrances to the carnival grounds, from Hawaii Kai Drive and Keahole Street, to avoid people walking along the highway. She said this will help with traffic issues in the area.

E.K. Fernandez will be partnering once again with Rich Miano’s Hawaii Speed and Quickness, as well as other nonprofit organizations or school groups that would like to be involved. Nonprofit organizations in the community may raise money by selling presale tickets through March 12.

For information, contact the E.K. Fernandez corporate office at 682-5767.
